lyrics

I was out on the highway thumb in the wind
No shoes, no shirt, depending on friends
These two picked me up. I was really in luck
When I looked on his forearm I saw the word ‘fuck’
In big black letters in the gothic style
She didn’t say nothing, not a trace of a smile
We drove to the beach. Sharp rocks cut my feet
They said - Hey, let’s get something to eat
When we got to the house I should have bewared
There was a big plate of pork chops already there
They didn’t taste good but I was polite
I ate two or three then we checked out the sights
We drove to a place called the sunset pier
Halfway there I felt a fire in the rear
All the way to my stomach. I was covered in sweat
The last thing I needed was a stupid sunset
I stumbled, my legs buckled, my head spun around
The world became wet, warm and profound
You don’t know lonely til you’re in a strange town
Covered in brown from the waist on down

The rest of the day was all in a blur
Somebody helped. Was it a him or a her?
I got cleaned up, got back on my feet
And now here I am back out on the street
I know I met the devil on the road that day
I didn’t see the sunset but I learned the hard way that
You don’t know lonely till you’re in a strange town
Covered in brown from the waist on down
